Movement Medicine is a practice of self-awareness and movement meditation based on free dance. Its goal is to bring you to be present in the here and now, rediscovering who you are and manifesting it in the world.
Through spontaneous and intentional body movements, free to follow what is happening, you build confidence in the process. This practice allows you to move your inner world, activating transformational processes that dissolve blocks internalized over time. Get closer to your personal expression of freedom by releasing psychophysical tensions, regain your vital energy and awaken your essence.
If you don’t live your life, who will live it for you? Movement Medicine invites you to know yourself through movements that arise from your inner self and are expressed in and through the body. Through sensations, emotions, feelings and instincts, you draw and shape your intentions and directions in dance. When you allow yourself time to feel and observe what emerges in your body, without diverting your attention, you re-learn to feel safe in your body. This stimulates your deepest essence, that spark of uniqueness and authenticity that wants to be heard and welcomed to manifest itself, your SOUL DANCIN’.
Movement Medicine is flexible and suitable for both group and individual work. In each meeting, we explore themes from its mandala, understood as a map of life: the four elements, interpersonal relationships, connection to the past and future, personal responsibility, and harmony between body, heart and mind. In addition, we address universal qualities such as self-esteem, defense of one’s boundaries, and the ability to choose and discern. Each class is unique, a mix of the energies of the moment. Through music and my guidance, I offer cues and invitations for you to capture and shape this energy. You dance individually and in relation to others, fostering a sense of community and mutual support. Stay open even when strong feelings emerge, allowing the body to release tension and relax. I accompany you in the awakening of your inner dancer, your vitality and creative energy.
Founded by Susannah and Ya’Acov Darling Khan in 2007, Movement Medicine grew out of Gabrielle Roth’s free dance of the 5 Rhythms, integrating elements of shamanism, Gestalt psychotherapy, neuroscience and ecology. I trained with the founders, and in 2020 I was certified as a Certified Movement Medicine Teacher. I have translated seminars in Italy and conducted group and individual sessions, in-person and online, in English as well. I am currently specializing in grief work as an agent of change, taught by Rosie Perks, Movement Medicine Teacher Facilitator. I organize intensive workshops and have taken this practice into social and academic settings. I am a member of the Movement Medicine Association.
